One Year Ago (Yesterday)

One year ago (yesterday) we met Alice in the conference room of Beijing Children's Welfare Institute #1. Unfortunately, I came down with a nasty sinus cold yesterday which put a damper on the day. Fortunately, we actually had a mini celebration on Monday, thanks to everyone being home from school and work for President's Day. Steve, Alice, Lucy and I went out for a Chinese lunch and the owners went the extra mile to make sure the girls had a taste of home. In typical fashion, we forgot to get a photo until it was almost too late.

It has been a year of change and growth, a year of learning and laughs. Alice continues to blossom and grow. Her non-stop positive attitude and charm touches everyone she meets. She has welcomed her new sister without reservation. She is easy-going and adaptable. Her drive and internal motivation will carry her far. We have been and continue to be blessed by her presence in our lives and we look forward to the years ahead.

For those who would like to revisit our meeting last year, here it is: The Big Day

  1. Happy Family Day! It's such a blessing to see the transition of an older child into her family go so well.
