We are STILL WAITING to hear what the MRI results were. We don't even have an appointment yet to meet with the doctor, let alone any idea what they found (or didn't find) in the MRI for each of the girls.
Lucy has just completed another round of medication for an intestinal parasite common in China. Hopefully this time it's all gone.
Lucy's blood test came back positive for TB, so she is on 4 months of medication for that. Alice was treated for 9 months, but the manufacturer for that medication has cut back or stopped production and there is a national shortage, so everyone is using this other medication.
A new development that caught everyone by surprise was when Lucy failed her hearing screening at school - both ears, all 5 frequencies. The numbers put her in the moderate hearing loss category. We have an appointment with an audiologist this week to double check the results. We never suspected any problems with her hearing and her teachers were just as surprised. I am anxious to find out what the truth is about this. If she really can't hear well, how much does that contribute to the learning problems we're seeing?
Also, because there is this big question mark about Lucy's hearing ALL her IEP evaluations are ON HOLD until we have answers. The school said, if they tested her now, all the results would be invalidated because of her uncorrected (possible) hearing impairment. I am so looking forward to having ANSWERS!
