Our (new) social worker visited last Monday for our home study update interview. She was here about 2 hours and we had a nice visit. She thinks she can have it finished by May 1, but then it has to be reviewed and approved by us, the director of our home study agency and then sent to our placing agency for review and approval. I figure all of that will put us towards the end of May before it is really finished. Then we get in line for round 1 of US immigration approval. Those were coming fast and furious a few months ago, but now things are slowing down thank at least in part to budget cuts from the sequestration. Maybe by late June our dossier will be ready to go to China, BUT China is shutting down for about 2 weeks to switch to a new system late May/early June, which means there will be a 2 week backlog to work through and praying there aren't any problems with the new system. For me this kills any hope of traveling early fall. The agencies involved didn't really want us bring Amy home until Lucy's 1 year anniversary, but I admit to hoping that we could swing it sooner if the paperwork moved quickly. Now it appears unlikely that we'll be approved for travel much before that 1 year mark (near Thanksgiving).
