Based on tips from a very good amateur photographer, who also happens to be a mom who blogs about adopting from China (that's how I found her), I learned how to blur the background in my photos with my new prime 35mm lens. The blurry background effect is called bokeh. So I get points for using 2 photography terms: prime lens and bokeh. Now if I can just learn how to take better pictures!
