Nothing Special

Yesterday DH and I went to the wedding of the daughter of a close family friend. We had an enjoyable time reconnecting with old friends. For a number it was their first time to learn about Alice and our pending adoption of Lucy. They made a fuss about how special we are to do this. We kept saying no, we're not special. Now adoption seems like such a normal thing to do. (Although there was a time when we also thought adoption was something "other people" did.)

This morning someone on a Chinese adoption forum posted a link to this video. It is about a 63 year old woman and her family in China who are truly doing something special.
