Grumble (cost increases)

Last year we missed the cutoff date by 5 months for being under the old post-placement reporting rules (2 reports total over 1 year). China now requires 6 post-placement visits/reports over a period of 5 years from our social worker, all of which must be pre-paid before the home study will be released. So the cost tripled for post-placement reports under the new rules.

Now there is a another new requirement from China that the post-placement reports must be translated by a specific company rather than by the adoption agencies. The cost for translating increased $70 per report. We are missing the cutoff date by less than one month and will have to pay the higher price!

Not what I wanted to hear as we look for ways to keep costs down.

  1. We got killed with this as well. Doubled for us. i am so mad, but in the end I just keep telling myself it is only $300. In the grand $25,000 scheme of things, it really is only a drop in the bucket... On the plus side the Visa fee dropped by quite a bit, so that will help make up the difference for you!
