Busy Waiting

Our summer is flying by with summer school, waiting, gazillions of IEP evaluations (at least it feels like it), waiting, kung fu and/or tai chi 6 days a week, waiting, extra ESL lessons, and more waiting. You would think we would be fitting in more fun stuff, but there barely seems time. My calendar has usually 2 and sometimes as many as 4 places Alice needs to be each day. Now summer school will be over in 2 weeks and then we have 4 weeks until school starts! Of those 4 weeks, one will be in Michigan (yea! a break from mid Atlantic heat and humidity), two weeks are filled with more appointments and IEP stuff. The final week before school starts we might be able to fit in some fun stuff, but then again there will be back to school shopping. Oh my.

We continue to wait for the first round approval from US Immigration for Lucy. While turn around times for approvals in April were less than 30 days, the average for May was 40 days and the trend through June into July seems to be longer and longer waits. I was hoping we would have our dossier in China before August. Then I was hoping it would be by the time we traveled to Michigan in mid-August. Now I am hoping we have our immigration approval in time for me to get the county and state certifications completed and the packet sent to our courier in DC (for State Department and Chinese Embassy certifications) before we leave for Michigan. If the approval is delayed and arrives while we are away that will add another week to our timeline for getting our papers completed and sent to China. I am getting concerned that we are heading towards a crisis where everything will have to be frantically pushed through with no cushion for delays. So frustrating!
