Despite some icy roads Kevin, Molly & John made it back to the house safely for the girls' first Christmas morning, while Matthew spent the night with us.
Of course it was stockings first.
Then we let the girls play Santa distributing the gifts….
with necessary breaks to open theirs
With 8 people it started getting a little crazy.
Thanks Grandma!
The mess!
Some ran out of gas before others.
A little explanation about the next set of pictures. John celebrated Christmas at our house this year. His family was out of town, so some of their gifts for him were under our tree. His mother thought that it would be fun for John & Molly to have a pair of nerf guns. Little did she realize that they would be the hit of the day.
Steve has started calling Alice his warrior princess because of her love of all things pink and her desire to spend so much time at the kung fu school. Lucy may prefer red and hasn't developed her sister's strong love of kung fu (yet), but she is a warrior princess too!
I love this - shooting without looking!
and then checking to see if they hit anything!
Our 3 warrior princesses!!!
Look out world!
A less violent toy was also under the tree for the girls. Alice did learn to ride a bicycle last spring, but she really can only manage it on very level surfaces - no inclines - and going down hill is no better since she really hasn't mastered the brakes! Lucy has already told us she can't ride a bike (we'll still give it try next spring). We saw these scooters at the store just before Christmas. There were only 2 on the shelves and one was red, the other pink. They just seemed to have the girls' names on them. The next week I found helmets - a pink/black one with dragons and red/black one with roses. Seemed appropriate.
Racing to the finish line - Dad.
