I am inviting all of our friends and family who would like to share their good wishes for Alice to send me a piece of fabric. The requirements are:
- at least 8 inches square
- prewashed
- it can be cut from a favorite old item (shirt, apron, etc.) or new cloth in a print or color that is meaningful or just because you like it or think Alice will like it - feel free to attach a comment about the significance of the item
- preferably cotton (flannels are nice and soft), but satin or silk are fine too (please prewash!)
- notes/names can be written on your fabric with fabric pen, if you want - optional
LP is thinking of something for Alice to cuddle under, with rabbits and ladybugs, a mix of piecing and applique, possibly quilted with red thread. Your donated squares do not have to have rabbits, ladybugs or red.
If you didn't already know:
- rabbits are one of Alice's favorite animals and her Chinese zodiac sign which is considered lucky for her - she was born in the year of the Rabbit and we started, but will not finish :( her adoption in the year of the Rabbit
- ladybugs are a popular symbol in the China adoption community and considered lucky by some people
- and frequently passed around the China adoption community is this quote: "An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but never break."
Looking foward to seeing your fabric squares!
